Top Freezer
Do you know this type of refrigerator since you were a child? Well, I do.
This is the most common refrigerator out there – the freezer on the top model.
Generally, these are very popular because they are sold for lower prices, and they represent the best solution for a low budget.
The pricing is low because this kind of fridge is usually basic and it doesn’t offer any advanced features.
Bottom Freezers
Are you a healthy eater and mostly enjoy fresh foods? Bottom freezers work well for people that prefer fresh veggies to frozen ones. This type of refrigerator is best suited for those that don’t need frequent access to the freezer, so there will be less bending you knees.
Most models in this category have a swing out or a pull out freezer door. I generally like the pull out door better because it provides easier access.
Counter Depth
These are the best if you have some money to spend. They work great in both modern and traditional style kitchens. Mostly French Doors or Side-by-Side types, they can really give your kitchen a sleek look. The one thing to consider here are the exact measurements. You most definitely need to get the dimensions right to make it fit in perfectly.
French Doors
The French Door refrigerators are stylish and elegant. They provide a spacious interior that maximizes the storage capacity. If you are an organizer this is the fridge for you!
Other than a really big storage capacity they usually come with the latest technology innovations. They are very appreciated across the board because they do an excellent job at keeping food fresh – considering the fact that you only need to open one door, your are letting in less warm air so you are helping the unit keep a more constant temperature inside. This simply results in less energy consumption and better conservation of fresh foods.
They usually have the option of setting different temperatures and humidity settings for its different sections and even bins. They feature a freezer on the bottom as well. French door refrigerators are very stylish and fit perfectly in a modern kitchen.
Side-By-Side
Americans love this type of refrigerator. It offer enough storage capacity for a large family and it’s also one of the models that fit well in an american type kitchen. All of the latest models feature spills-proof shelves that are very easy to clean as well. Take it out of the fridge – put it in the sink – wash put it back – it’s so easy.
Another feature that you should look for in a Side-by-Side type refrigerator is the ability to set different levels of humidity and temperature in the drawers. I don’t need to stress how important this is for people that live on a healthy diet.
The Deli and snack drawers are a nice touch too. Some say that the freezer is a little small – but this depends from one manufacturer to the other. Just simply go with a brand that best serves your individual needs. You can see a LG side by side fridge review here if you don’t have time for extensive research.
Compact
Is your child off to college? Well, this is just what he needs. I even use one in my office. Compact refrigerators are best for dorms and offices and are a great option when you only need a tiny freezer. The freezer is usually incorporated. There’s not much to talk about here – these are no frills models that offer secondary storage. The don’t have advanced features but the good news is that they are really really affordable, most going for under $100.
Freezer-less
Do you own a stand-alone freezer? Or maybe you simply don’t use frozen foods. Then, this is the fridge is your best option. These models are usually not that expensive and they offer sufficient storage capacity for fresh foods. Vegetarians love these type of fridges and they are becoming more and more popular.
Wine & Beverage
Wine 🙂 Huh, I love it. These small wine and beverage storage units are wonderful. They keep your wine, beer, or soft drinks cold. What more can one ask for ? 🙂 These look really nice in your bar. If you need one for commercial use, then larger capacity models are also available.
The really fancy models feature advanced temperature control, so that you can set the perfect environment for the type of beverage for store.
Researching for the perfect refrigerator can be a daunting task. I hope that the information I share here makes the quest a little easier.
Whether you are looking to replace an old refrigerator or buy a new one for you and your family, this guide on refrigerator types is a good place to start.
Glass Door Refrigerator
A glass door refrigerator is a type of refrigerator that has a door made of glass. This allows the user to see the contents of the refrigerator without opening the door, which can save energy and make it easier to find what you’re looking for.
Glass door refrigerators are commonly used in commercial settings such as cafes, restaurants, and convenience stores. They are also becoming more popular in residential settings as they are a stylish and functional addition to the kitchen. The glass door allows you to see what’s inside the refrigerator without opening the door, which can save energy and make it easier to find what you’re looking for.
It’s important to note that glass door refrigerators are typically more expensive than standard refrigerators, and the glass door may be more prone to scratches or cracks. It’s also important to consider the location of the refrigerator, as the glass door will not provide as much insulation as a solid door. But if you are looking for a functional and stylish addition to your kitchen, a glass door refrigerator is a great option.
Different Refrigerator Capacities For Families
When it comes to refrigerator capacity for a family, it’s important to consider the size and storage needs of your household. A family of five typically requires a larger refrigerator than a family of two or three, etc.
A good rule of thumb for determining refrigerator capacity is to consider the total number of cubic feet of storage you need. This would allow for enough storage for all the groceries, leftovers, and other food items for your family size.
It’s also important to consider the layout and features of the refrigerator. A side-by-side refrigerator or a French door refrigerator would be a good option for a family of five as they have plenty of space and are easy to organize. It’s also a good idea to look for a refrigerator with adjustable shelving and door bins, as it will help you to easily store and organize all of your food items.
Family of 3
For a family of three, a refrigerator with a capacity of 15-18 cubic feet is generally considered adequate.
Family of 4
For a family of four, a refrigerator with a capacity of 18-22 cubic feet is generally considered adequate.
Family of 5
For a family of five, a refrigerator with a capacity of 20-25 cubic feet is generally considered to be appropriate.
Family of 6
For a family of six, a refrigerator with a capacity of 25-30 cubic feet is generally considered adequate.
